1984: The Year That Was

Lifted from hosking who snarfed it from myclette.  Since I'm older than either of these fine ladies, I thought I'd try it.

Fill this out about your SENIOR year of high school! The longer ago it was, the more fun the answers will be.

1. Who were your best friend(s)?

        "Eloise"

"The King"  ((Yep, just nicknames, sorry...))

2.What sports did you play?

None, I was in Tall Flag (Captain) and the Speech Team (President)

3. What kind of car did you drive?
1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Built and colored like a tank.  I had to keep reminding myself that when I was three years old, that was a luxury car.

4. It's Friday night, where were you?

Either at football games or practicing for a speech tournament.

5. Were you a party animal?
        You're kidding, right?  Me?

6. Were you considered a flirt?
Not even on my best day. lol

7. Ever skip school?
Nah.  I did ditch first period once to hang out with the band geeks <grin> who were my friends. Just for the thrill.

8. Were you a nerd?

President of the speech/debate team? Permanent office aide?  Of course I was a nerd.

9. Did you get suspended/expelled?
      Never

10. Can you sing the fight song/alma mater?
Sadly, yes. You had to ask, right? Now it will replace my sons' social security numbers in my cortex.

11. Who was your favorite teacher?
Mrs. Wardrobe, AP English.  (Nickname acquired because she never wore the same outfit twice the entire school year.  Yes, we kept tabs.)

12. Favorite class?
AP English, Spanish, Office TA period (rocked)

13. What was your school's full name?
    Richard Gahr High School

14. School mascot?

          Gladiators

15. Did you go to Prom?
       Nope.  The then-fiancĂ© wasn't interested.

       Not in this lifetime.

17. What do you remember most about graduation?
   The marbles.

18. Favorite memory of your Senior Year?

Senior salute as flag captain, the competitions won, the speech trophies taken, the time the office aides ran things while the secretaries bailed for over an hour. It was a great year.

19. Where were you on senior skip day?
We had Senior Ditch Day at Magic Mountain. You had to go there or be at school.

20. Did you have a job your senior year?
I had two, then three, then four. Yep. All at the same time. I was insane.

21. Where did you go most often for lunch?
The speech coach's classroom. We all lived there.

22. Have you gained weight since then?
    <dies laughing> Um, yes.

Started college at Cal State Uni, Long Beach.

24. When did you graduate?
        1984

25. Who was your Senior prom date?

Didn't have one.  And, to be truthful, I didn't want to go, either.

26. Are you going to your 10 year reunion?

I did go to my 10, missed my 20 because we moved to Florida, but would love to go to my 25th if anyone remembers to organize one.

27. Who was your home room teacher?
Mrs. Mariposa, nominally. Homeroom was my period as office aide.

28. Who will repost this after you?
