Attack of the Killer Smileys and Other Sundries
Cartoon Ranger was at it again. I have allowed him to have fun with smileys, but I have also tried to keep them "private" so that the world is not inundated with his favorite faces. <grin>
Today is a good day. So far. I am breathing without benefit of medication. I am teaching in the actual schoolroom and not from under a pile of blankets in my own room. I have scrubbed countertops (it is so sad to see the state of my house when I am vastly under the weather...no one knows how to wipe down anything...sigh) and done dishes, in addition to making room for CR to make more mess by painting with gel paints while Cyclone studies motion and work for science.
And...best of all...I can stand upright and function without getting dizzy, so.... I can make wonton soup!!!
Woohooo!!!!!
I have my issues, I know.
There is much, though, to be done since Mums and ShoeWoman will be flying in on Friday for Cyclone's 12th birthday. A dinner out is scheduled, as well as a shopping spree, a movie outing, and who knows what all. It will be wonderful. I haven't seen my family since before the 4th of July and I miss them.
Other Sundries:
Worked the Volunteer Ministry Fair at church on Sunday and got a free shirt.
They DO take care of us at this church. Taught class, of course, and had a few new faces. I have to confess that I do enjoy surprising the kids my remembering their names when they don't expect me too. Shame on me, maybe? I don't know. I gloat quietly...I hope.
Cartoon Ranger found a cache of packing peanuts last night after I was "off duty." Um. Spousal Unit was not amused at the mess.... He's a good guy, though. He just now called me to make sure we were home because there was an accident, apparently, on our proposed errand-route for later. Nope, I said. We aren't scheduled to leave 'til after lunch. It is very good of him to keep tabs on us.
Anecdote: We have had to teach Cartoon Ranger how to very clearly enunciate "Snickers" – as in the candy bar – since Spousal Unit has introduced him to them. I will not write down what he was saying before our intense enunciation workshops, as it would offend some folks, likely. It's all better, now.
I will also allow you to guess what a lad (not one of mine, I promise) was referring to when he called out "My peanuts hurt!" in the mall, a while ago. I didn't see his face, but I can imagine his parents' expressions!
All right, Cartoon Ranger is perishing to be allowed to go visit Bear in the Big Blue house at Disney.com, so I am going to sidle off and let him do so.
Besides, it's time to grate the ginger for my soup!
Happy Tuesday, everyone. May your day bring you a chuckle where it is least expected, but most appreciated!
