I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship. - Louisa May Alcott

Private note to the "green plant"
A fellow blogger who doesn't allow responses on her blog at present said this:

Although honestly I don't feel like I'm blooming here... But you know what, maybe I'm not a blooming sort of plant at all... Maybe I'm just a green plant that doesn't have flowers... And I've been beating myself up all my life trying to bloom, when it simply can never happen, I'm not that kind of a plant...

Maybe I'm an orchid, and I can only bloom in perfect conditions... Otherwise I'm just a bunch of spiky green leaves that will never bloom... Heck, maybe I'm one of those century plants, that blooms once in a lifetime... In which case I've already done it, and I should quit torturing myself for not being able to do it again... It's ok to just be a nice little green leafy plant with no flowers... I hope?!

I'm preserving her identity in case she doesn't wish to be ID'd but, I wanted to tell her that I love this observation. We don't all bloom, maybe. Maybe we're meant to be sturdy, green plants who give life by virtue of their sheer existance, without a lot of frills. There are many plants, and many more people, and who knows what garden you were designed to bloom in? But if you find yourself comfortable in your home and garden...relax. Grow. Enjoy the sun and the rain and...Maybe, one day, you'll see that rare, once-in-a-lifetime flower shoot out from somewhere and be utterly amazed.

And wouldn't that be cool?

Be good to yourself, Garden Lady. :-)
