Death is not worse pain than an empty life. -- Lun Tha
Rhythms
You know, when your body is used to getting up around a certain "o'clock," you'll often get up at that time without the prompting of an alarm. For me, my "alarm" is Scooter and he generally has me up at this hour...2:40 in the morning. Well, anywhere from 2 to 4, anyway.
So even though he woke up at 1:15 and the Spousal Unit got up with him (which made Scooter annoyed and frustrated, but too bad -- it wasn't my shift!) I didn't ever entirely get back to sleep. I gave up eventually and got up.
I should be working on Chapter 23, but I'm sleepy, honestly, and my writing rhythm isn't geared toward an Irish captive venting spleen on her countryman at the moment.
Additionally, I'm wakeful because there's still stuff to do. My mother-in-law is coming out to visit for a week. She chose me, some of you will remember, to be her son's wife, way back in, oh, 1990. I am actually looking forward to her visit. Besides, it provides an impetus to clean those "out of the way" areas I tend to neglect in my usual 10-minute-mission cycles. :-)
However, having a house guest may curtail my online participation, so I would ask that anyone who is keeping track to be patient. I still have to finish editing the book (I'm only on word 23,000 out of 67,000, sigh) and finish critiques for the Roundtable meeting on the 5th and get the final draft of Mom's present, Yes, Mom, I heard you! out to her by, oh, Tuesday. She read the prologue I posted a while back (I'd go looking for the link but I'm all of a sudden famished and can't think that far back) and she cried.
Always good. ;-)

P.S. I just noticed that my date and time settings are all messed up. I fixed it, but wow, it said I'd gone back in time to 1970 and that it was in fact a quarter past three in the glorious a.m. Anyone know how to fix that? lol I mean...permanently, so I don't have to change it again? I'll forget, I knonw I will, and then lo and behold I'll post and develop the URGE to watch The Brady Bunch or something...
