I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship. - Louisa May Alcott
Stuff I thought my folks told me...
I was contemplating the great mysteries of life...okay...maybe not...but I happened upon a stray neuron and thought I'd share it somewhere. Who knows, it might make it into a novel someday.
Santa Claus
My folks never told me there was a Santa Claus. Canyon Man and I just decided that there was, one morning when Mom had been so darn busy and hadn't had time to finish wrapping presents. So, some were wrapped and tagged; others were not, but all were exactly what we wanted.
It must have been Santa. They never told us differently.
"Bagels!"
I'm never sure what started this, but Canyon Man and I were sure we'd discovered a magic word. One year, whenever we said "bagels," at night, we'd find hard candy hidden in the room. I'm sure there was a rational explanation for it. My mom never said...but I bet she was helping it along.
Alice in Wonderland
Mums was slender and blond as a young girl. She knew the story, could quote the Caterpillar from memory, and made little cakes. I was sure she was Alice. I told all my friends so, too. Made me feel so special!
Graveyards
People are buried in graveyards with their heads above ground. I knew this because my mom told me that people visited their loved ones in the graveyards after they were buried. It seemed only logical that they'd wish to converse. This particular oddity of mine was discovered while it was raining one night and I worried about all the dead people's heads getting wet.

Well, my children now need me to tell them a thing or four, so I'd best scoot. :-) Have a great afternoon!!
